Aeacus Lawyers was founded in 2023 as a boutique firm focusing exclusively on tax law. Since its establishment, the firm has developed into a renowned practice and a leading authority in tax proceedings, tax fraud, money laundering, and the defense of taxpayers in disputes with the tax authorities.
Under the leadership of Christophe Romero, Aeacus has developed particular expertise in tax audits, administrative objection proceedings, tax litigation, cases involving alleged tax fraud, and money-laundering investigations. The firm always aims to resolve disputes amicably when this is in the client's best interests. When proceedings prove unavoidable, Aeacus defends its clients' interests before the courts and tribunals with the same determination.
Alongside this strong litigation practice, Aeacus has a highly specialized advisory practice led by Senne Verholle. Over the years, the firm has developed particular expertise in corporate taxation, real estate taxation, investment taxation, and the taxation of digital assets.
Building on this advanced specialization, Aeacus established two dedicated expert teams. Under the name Aeacus Crypto Lawyers, a specialist team focuses almost exclusively on taxation, regulation, and disputes involving digital assets. In addition, a dedicated team operating under the name Arx Aurum focuses entirely on investment taxation and tax guidance for investors.

Christophe Romero specializes in tax law, focusing primarily on tax proceedings, cases involving alleged tax fraud, and money-laundering investigations. He began his career at De Broeck Van Laere and Partners, after which he joined Tiberghien before founding Aeacus Lawyers. Within Aeacus, Christophe heads the litigation practice and is responsible for handling and coordinating complex tax disputes.
He defends individuals, entrepreneurs, and companies in complex disputes with the tax authorities, both during tax audits and administrative proceedings and before the courts. Throughout his career, he has assisted numerous taxpayers in major, legally complex cases, including several high-profile matters that received extensive attention in the national media.

CHRISTOPHE ROMERO
Senne Verholle specializes in the tax advisory practice. He began his career at the tax law firm Tiberghien before co-founding Aeacus Lawyers. Within Aeacus, Senne heads the advisory practice, assisting businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and family groups with complex tax matters and strategic restructurings.
His expertise complements Christophe Romero's litigation practice, with Senne focusing primarily on substantive and preventive tax advice.
He has developed extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and providing tax guidance to high-net-worth individuals and businesses on immigration and emigration. He also assists families with transferring family businesses to the next generation and specializes in real estate taxation, with a particular focus on the tax aspects of real estate transactions and investments. He also has in-depth expertise in crypto taxation, with particular emphasis on corporate income tax and the tax structuring of businesses operating in the digital economy.
In addition to his expertise in tax law, Senne also has strong knowledge of related areas of law, including corporate law and accounting law. This multidisciplinary background allows him to approach tax matters from a broader corporate-law perspective at all times.
Senne has also completed SUPRALAT training and assists clients during police interviews and questioning in cases requiring in-depth tax and financial expertise.
